Quantum Debuts Three New StorNext Appliances

Quantum (News - Alert) Corp, a provider of solutions for big data management and protection, released three new high-performance StorNext appliances, specifically designed for mid-sized post and broadcast facilities.

The StorNext M440 Metadata Appliance, StorNext QX Storage primary disk and StorNext AEL500 Mini Archive should facilitate high-speed collaboration and workflow management from ingest through archiving for post-production and broadcast facilities.

Quantum explained that its StorNext scale-out storage virtualization software provides high-performance file sharing, enterprise data management and integrated data protection, and archiving for big data environments.

The StorNext M440 Metadata Appliance includes dual metadata controller nodes, a dedicated metadata array, and factory-installed and licensed software that are all engineered, tested and certified by Quantum. It makes use of factory-installed and factory-licensed software for simplified deployments and out-of-the-box reliability, and is compatible with all other StorNext appliances and StorNext software solutions.

The StorNext AEL500 Archives start as low as 30TB in 20 slots of LTO-5 with the StorNext AEL500 Mini, and can grow to over 1PB in over 400 slots of LTO-6. The AEL500 is reportedly the first StorNext AEL product for smaller workgroups that integrates StorNext Storage Manager with Quantum tape hardware to support policy-based, active archiving and vaulting of digital assets.

The StorNext QX Storage is available in five base configurations, ranging from 14.4 TB to 48 TB in capacity, and can scale up to 384 TB for increased performance benefits. It is employed for StorNext collaborative workflow environments.
