To accommodate the growing demand for cloud-based services in the Asia-Pacific region, Oracle (News
- Alert) has launched a data center in Singapore. The new facility – housed by datacenter operator Equinix (News
- Alert) – will offer subscription-based access to the company’s Fusion applications, which include enterprise resource planning (ERP), human capital management (HCM), customer service, and sales and marketing. Companies that have recently chosen Oracle Fusion HCM include Brightcove, Newfield and Travelzoo (News - Alert).
The opening of the Singapore data center was hailed by Leslie Ong, managing director of Oracle Singapore, as the company’s “latest investment in the very fast-growing Asia-Pacific region” during his keynote at Oracle CloudWorld 2013.
In other cloud data center news, application performance company Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology is nowapplying big data collection and analysis techniques to application performance management. Big data techniques offer application support, developer, and QA teams deep insight into the end-user experience, speeding problem diagnosis, increasing IT efficiency, and improving application service levels.
Company officials said that OPNET AppInternals Xpert provides these capabilities through the combination of Transaction Trace Warehouse, a comprehensive record of all application transactions, and big data analytics.

- Alert) forecasting that more than $677 billion will be spent on cloud services worldwide over the next three years, and with Western and Eastern Europe predicted to post the highest growth rates between 2013 and 2016, it made perfect sense for SingleHop, which has been pioneering the global IaaS movement, to open shop there.
The provider of hosted IT infrastructure and cloud computing announced plans to open anew data center in Amsterdam to meet growing demand for high quality dedicated and cloud infrastructure from value-added resellers, hosting providers and SMBs around the world.
Slated to open this May, the Amsterdam facility will be SingleHop’s first European location. The 2,000 server-capacity facility will reportedly be top tier, and will expand server capacity by approximately 20 percent.
