MicroPact Joins Computer Industry Standards Consortium, OMG

In the field of distributed object computing, software companies often look to develop and deploy standards that guide the creation of their products and services.

MicroPact announced that the company has joined the Object Management Group (OMG) as a Domain Level member. OMG is a not-for-profit computer industry standards consortium which provides open membership facilities for its members.

OMG Task Forces comes up with standards for technologies for a vast range of industries. The group makes use of features such as Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Model Driven Architecture (MDA (News - Alert)) to facilitate software maintenance and other related processes. The company also helps its clients in creating business process management and case management standards.

The company has had a major hand in developing Business Process Modeling and Notation 2.0 specification, which helps the users in better understanding their internal business process. The company also had an active role in developing Case Management Model and Notation (CMMN) specification.

The members of OMG include vendors, end-users, academic institutions and government agencies and they all play important roles in developing the required standards. The group has one organization- one vote policy and this policy helps every member to have an active voice in the voting process.

Recently, the company won a contract from the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission.
