ThoughtWorks Opts for Aryaka WAN Optimization to Improve Intra-Office Application Speeds

Aryaka (News - Alert), a provider of WAN Optimization-as-a-Service, Network as-a-Service and Application Delivery as-a-Service solutions, has revealed that ThoughtWorks has chosen the company’s WAN optimization solutions over similar offerings from companies like Riverbed (News - Alert).

ThoughtWorks, a Chicago-based provider of customer software development services, relies heavily on centrally hosted applications that require fast, reliable access from anywhere in the world. However, the company faced serious challenges as the distance between its U.S. data center and numerous international locations affected the performance of its critical enterprise applications.

The company turned to Aryaka network optimization services to improve the performance of interactive applications between company offices in India, China and the United States. Thanks to Aryaka's intelligent, optimized network ThoughtWorks has significantly increased employee collaboration and productivity.

After reviewing multiple WAN optimization solutions in the industry, including those from Riverbed, the company realized that Aryaka’s solutions are more affordable to them. The company also evaluated backhaul multi protocol label switching (MPLS) links but then found they were not only cost-prohibitive but would take months to provision—a luxury ThoughtWorks could not afford.

"PeopleSoft, software-management tools, remote logins and a variety of other critical enterprise applications performed poorly over long distances, especially between our offices in Chicago and China, and similarly between our offices in Fremont and Bangalore," said Nitin Raina, director of global IT for ThoughtWorks.

Raina continued, "We didn't want to undergo the headaches, cost and lengthy onboarding process with MPLS and Riverbed. Instead, we embraced the idea of WAN Optimization as-a-Service. With Aryaka's predictable low latency between locations, our applications now run 80 percent faster."

Aryaka's WAN Optimization-as-a-Service solution offers a dedicated core network with built-in diversity and redundancy based on globally distributed Points of Presence (POPs), coupled with cloud-based technology.

With Aryaka’s solutions in place, ThoughtWorks applications run 80 percent faster. Further, the company also achieved 60 percent compression rate even during peak traffic, in addition to maintaining stable core latency between locations.

"With 2,000 employees around the globe, ThoughtWorks has to ensure critical applications and communications are not compromised by slow network speeds," Ajit Gupta (News - Alert), president and CEO, Aryaka concluded. "By using our WAN Optimization as-a-Service, ThoughtWorks has a simplified and efficient solution that increases business productivity, improves application delivery speeds and reduces IT costs."
