Mozy's Backup Services Adds Zing to Spiceworks' IT Management Tool

What would it be like if IT pros could manage their networks, interact with tech vendors and solve IT issues – in fact simplifying IT by being able to manage and monitor services from a single interface? 

Right now, that seems extremely possible, as Mozy’s online backup service has ‘spiced up’ Spiceworks (News - Alert) “free everything IT tool,” which IT professionals use to manage their networks. The extra zing will provide cloud vendors with a platform they can use to tap into the power of the network and reach IT professionals as they're researching and deploying their latest services.

With Mozy joining the Spiceworks cloud program, 2.4 million Spiceworks users can now access their Mozy account directly from Spiceworks. This integration is being considered a big win for the IT department.

The integration of Mozy capabilities into Spiceworks is expected to bring more transparency into the backup process, as it enables IT professionals to see which devices on the network are being protected, assess the storage quota for each device, receive alerts when storage capacity is running low, and take steps to provide additional capacity.

Further, it allows them to determine to what extent previous backups have been successful.

"Many of our business customers also use Spiceworks, and we want to make it as easy for them as possible to administer Mozy through Spiceworks," said Gytis Barzdukas, senior director of product management at Mozy.
