NVIDIA's Visual Computing Appliance Offers On-demand Visual Computing for Businesses

NVIDIA (News - Alert) recently announced the introduction of the NVIDIA GRID VCA (visual computing appliance) designed to deliver on-demand and ultra-fast GPU performance to Windows, Linux, or Mac clients over a user’s network.

In a statement, Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder and chief executive officer, NVIDIA, said that, "NVIDIA GRID VCA is the first product to provide businesses with convenient, on-demand visual computing. Design firms, film studios and other businesses can now give their creative teams access to graphics-intensive applications with uncompromised performance, flexibility, and simplicity."

The NVIDIA GRID Visual Computing Appliance (VCA), which has been designed as a robust GPU-based system, can run even the most complex applications from Adobe (News - Alert) Systems Incorporated, Autodesk, and Dassault Systèmes, and relays the graphics output over the user’s network which is then displayed on a client computer.

Shantanu Narayen (News - Alert), president and chief executive officer, Adobe said that, "Performance is important for creative professionals, and our long-standing relationship with NVIDIA has assured they are able to work with images and videos in a much faster, smoother, more engaging way. NVIDIA and Adobe have a shared goal of providing our customers with the latest technology advancements with flexible deployment options so they can focus on their jobs and have more time to be creative. The innovative advancements in virtualization introduced today with the NVIDIA GRID is an exciting new direction that underscores that commitment."

Even small and medium sized organizations with limited IT infrastructure will benefit from extensive flexibility by using the NVIDIA GRID VCA. For an employee, creating a virtual machine or workspace requires the simple click of an icon. Once created, these workspaces function as highly optimized, dedicated, high-performance GPU-based systems which can be added, deleted, or reallocated when required.

Offering easy installation and management, the NVIDIA GRID VCA features 16 NVIDIA GPUs and NVIDIA GRID VGX software which can support NVIDIA Quadro-class graphics performance for around 16 concurrent users without any dip in quality.
