Red Hat Integrates ManageIQ Solutions to Open Hybrid Cloud Portfolio

Red Hat (News - Alert) provides open hybrid cloud management solutions from infrastructure consolidation and security to network-attached storage. The company recently acquired ManageIQ, an enterprise cloud management and automation solutions company, as part of its strategy to expand its cloud portfolio.

In line with this strategy, Red Hat just has begun work to integrate ManageIQ’s enterprise cloud management and automation technologies with Red Hat CloudForms hybrid Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution and the open Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization management solution.

According to Bryan Che, general manager, Cloud Business Unit at Red Hat, the combination can offer customers an unparalleled open hybrid cloud management portfolio.

“We’ve worked with ManageIQ as a partner to our Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization platform with successful joint customers and saw an opportunity to expand our hybrid cloud management capabilities with an even closer relationship with ManageIQ’s compelling portfolio,” said Che.

ManageIQ’s enterprise cloud management and automation technologies enable organizations to easily deploy, manage and optimize across private clouds, public clouds and virtualized infrastructures.

The acquisition complements Red Hat not only in terms of products, but also in terms of customer acquisition. Both Red Hat and ManageIQ share many joint customers; in fact the majority of ManageIQ’s customers are also Red Hat customers.

Both companies were working together even before they decided on the acquisition. They analyzed the cost benefits of leveraging Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, as well as considering OpenStack options for open cloud implementations.

“Now with Red Hat and ManageIQ together, we can continue to manage our current virtual estate while looking forward to a compelling open hybrid cloud management portfolio that will result from the combination of these powerful technologies,”says Chris Russell, IT architect consultant for a leading global provider of banking and payments technologies to thousands of financial institutions that runs a multi-tenant virtual IT infrastructure in three datacenters using ManageIQ technologies.

Just recently Red Hat also released version 1.1 of the Red Hat CloudForms cloud management platform as well as two cloud solution bundles and a service offering that combines many of its leading product portfolios.
