EMCO Software, enterprise software solutions provider for Windows networks, has announced the public beta testing of EMCO Remote Installer 4.1, which will last until March 15, 2013.
Users of the previous versions of EMCO Remote Installer and new users can try the new features with this updated version of the application, and share their feedback with the development team. The most active beta testers will receive free licenses for version 4.1 from EMCO Software.
This remote deployment solution allows individuals to perform unattended software installation and uninstallation on remote Windows PCs quickly and easily. It is easy to deploy MSI (News - Alert) packages on selected Windows PCs connected to a local network, and to uninstall deployed MSI packages as well.
The program can be used to retrieve data on installed software from remote PC, get aggregated software inventory reports and see any software change.
The beta version of EMCO Remote Installer includes new features to simplify software deployment and management in large corporate networks. It also allows network administrators to remotely install EXE setups that support the silent installation mode.
This allows network administrators to distribute installations remotely without other formats, for easy deployment.
"Today, many software vendors understand the need of network administrators to distribute installations in the unattended mode, so they offer options to deploy installations silently. Using the new version of EMCO Remote Installer, network administrators can deploy EXE installations remotely without repackaging them into MSI packages or applying other changes, so installations can be deployed exactly as designed by software vendors with no third-party modifications," stated Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software.
EMCO Remote Installer an easy-to-use network application designed for centralized software management and audit across a local network. It offers a simple approach to remote software distribution, and can be used instead of GPO, SCCM and other complicated deployment tools.
EMCO Remote Installer 4.1 beta can automatically detect silent installation options for some types of EXE installation packages. For other types of installations, network administrators need to activate silent installation by specifying the respective command-line options defined by the installation vendor.
The new version of EMCO Remote Installer allows network administrators to install and uninstall applications remotely. Applications installed as MSI packages by Windows Installer can be uninstalled just as easily.
The features introduced in 4.1 beta version of the application allow IT professionals to use EMCO Remote Installer for different types of remote software deployment tasks. The application supports the remote installation of MSI packages and MSI patches and allows network administrators to run different pre- and post-installation operations on remote PCs.
"EMCO Remote Installer can be used as a replacement for GPO and other traditional types of remote deployment. The application combines software audit features with remote deployment options that simplify various remote deployment tasks. For example, it's really easy to find applications not approved by the company and uninstall them across a LAN using EMCO Remote Installer, but it's hard to do so using the standard Windows domain deployment features. Using EMCO Remote Installer can save IT professionals a lot of time and effort," commented Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software.
