Video surveillance has become a ubiquitous part of the culture we live in. Whether it is in the workplace or street corners, cameras are everywhere providing useful information. In the past, the images captured with surveillance cameras often times produced low quality output rendering the content useless. However, new digital technology makes it possible to capture images with many possibilities for law enforcement, legal proceedings and personal protection.
Capturing the images with an IP surveillance system delivers even more possibilities because the content can be viewed with an Internet connection day or night with a smartphone, tablet, or computer. The new Toshiba (News - Alert) NVSPRO high-performance network video server is an all-in-one video network storage and management solution for enterprise-class organizations.
The NVSPRO is a product from the Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. The new server gives organizations that depend on the accuracy and quality of the content from their surveillance cameras a reliable storage unit with large volume capability.
The unit supports up to 64 megapixel IP cameras for many different applications with eight or 16 removable hard drives for storing anywhere from 24 to 48 TB. This large capacity is critical for organizations that have compliance and regulatory requirements for keeping content for a certain amount of time.
The system has an Intel Core i7 Processor with a multilayer redundancy mechanism along with 4GB RAM (News - Alert) and hot-swappable and scalable storage. In IP deployments the 260 Mbps throughput rates allow multiple megapixel cameras access from remote location at the same time for live viewing, real-time recording or playback. The dual Gigabit network ports balances the video traffic whether it is incoming or outgoing.
Additionally, the server comes with free Surveillix VMS software, 2U or 4U rackmount sizes, 8 IP licenses expandable to 64, support for 150 different IP camera models and a RAID5 option available for improving security and protection of recordings in critical applications.
