Level 3 Earns ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Certification

Level 3 Communications (News - Alert), a company that provides local, national and global communications services to enterprise, government and carrier customers, recently announced that its subsidiary, Level 3 Argentina S.A., has earned the ISO/IEC (News - Alert) 27001:2005 Certification for the Advanced Security Testing (AST) service in its data center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Level 3 provides the expertise and support a user needs to detect, prevent and, if necessary, remediate any threats to their business. The company had to go past two extensive audits conducted by TUV Rheinland to earn the 3-year certification.

The company integrates security and network capabilities to correlate events across all global infrastructures and protect users against infected command-and-control servers.

The security intelligence allows the company to write policies, implement controls and execute broad-reaching strategies that help you ensure business continuity. These services help companies to assess and analyze information system risks and vulnerabilities in a timely manner.

"This certification is of great significance because it underscores the extensive measures Level 3 has implemented to protect our customers' personal, confidential data and information systems," said Gabriel del Campo, Level 3's senior vice president of Data Centers for Latin America. "The Certification required comprehensive effort to define the best strategy; adding new roles, functions, processes, and procedures; and implementing technology improvements including extra controls to safeguard our data center services environment."

In related news, Dafiti, a well-known name in the e-commerce fashion circle in Brazil, recently selected Level 3 to improve its hosting and infrastructure. According to the agreement, Level 3 will put to work its Premier Elite data centers in Brazil to offer Internet access and data redundancy services to Dafiti. With an expanding e-commerce business, Dafiti sought to strengthen its ecommerce infrastructure and provide enhanced online services. Level 3 technology will help the company to improve its Web presence.
