WANdisco Now Part of Hortonworks' Technology Partner Program

WANdisco, a company specializing in offering high-availability software for global enterprises to meet the challenges of big data and distributed software development, has now become a member of Hortonworks Technology Partner Program.

Hortonworks is a commercial vendor of Apache Hadoop. Powered by Apache Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform provides an open and stable foundation for enterprises and a growing ecosystem to build and deploy big data solutions. The Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), powered by Apache Hadoop, is a massively scalable, open source platform for storing, processing and analyzing large volumes of data.

By joining the Hortonworks Technology program, WANdisco gets to offer its big data products on the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) powered by Apache Hadoop.

"WANdisco is bringing active-active replication technology to enterprises for high-availability global Hadoop deployments," said David Richards, WANdisco CEO. "Hortonworks Data Platform customers will greatly benefit from WANdisco non-stop Big Data solutions through this partnership."

The combination of WANdisco's patented active-active replication technology and the open source Apache Hadoop-based software platform is expected to create tremendous value for the customers.

WANdisco officials said that their technology cuts down the single point of failure inherent in Hadoop and works over Wide Area Networks (WANs) across multiple servers thousands of miles apart, as well as over Local Area Networks (LANs).

This facility is very convenient for enterprises to get non-stop availability of the network and also addresses planned outages by allowing administrators to take servers offline for maintenance without interrupting user access.

“We are pleased to welcome WANdisco into the Hortonworks Technology Partner Program," said Mitch Ferguson, vice president of business development, Hortonworks. "We look forward to working with WANdisco to deliver innovative Apache Hadoop-based solutions for the enterprise."

Fortune Global 1000 companies including AT&T (News - Alert), Motorola, Intel and Halliburton rely on WANdisco for performance, reliability, security and availability.
