NetScout Joins Open Networking Foundation

Software-defined networking (SDN) is increasingly being deployed companies all over the world, as it provides many unique benefits. It reduces the cost of network administration and provides enhanced flexibility in the way a network is used.

Since SDN takes away manual intervention, it provides increased uptime.

Looking to explore the opportunities and challenges of SDN, NetScout (News - Alert) Systems has joined the Open Networking Foundation (ONF). As a new member of ONF, NetScout will look to address the challenges arising from deploying SDN technology in various networks.

According to NetScout, successful implementation of SDN technology will bring the age of modern enterprise. The company believes network infrastructure efficiencies will also improve with this technology.

ONF looks to improve networking by introducing SDN architecture in networking functions. The foundation looks to promote the use of SDN and its related technologies.

A widespread use of SDN can change the way every company operates its networks in the future.

“Not only is SDN bringing significant change to the very fabric of the network infrastructure and service delivery, it will change the way organizations must handle performance and service delivery management related challenges,” said Steven Shalita (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at NetScout. “NetScout has been at the forefront of major transformations in the networking industry for nearly three decades. As the first performance management company to join ONF, we are excited to help drive innovation that addresses the implications SDN architectures will have on service delivery.”

Recently, the company announced that its nGenius Service Assurance Solution was picked up by IPC (News - Alert) Systems to improve the network performance of its cloud-based Connexus Financial Extranet service.

IPC has a large number of net sites, and managing their performances is critical for the company.
