iland Internet Solutions Reduce Costs and Enhance Services with VMware Network Virtualization

iland (News - Alert) Internet Solutions has effectively reduced its operational costs and enhanced service velocity by deploying the VMware network virtualization. iland Internet Solutions is a specialist provider of hosted cloud infrastructure services to customers across North America and Europe.

In a statement, Justin Giardina, CTO of iland Internet Solutions, said, "As we explored building and delivering new, value-added cloud services, we realized the tremendous flexibility, operational efficiency and time-to-market benefits to be gained through network virtualization. Just as server virtualization changed the way we delivered compute resources, network virtualization has transformed the way we deliver network services by removing the challenges we faced when bound to the physical network."

Network virtualization delivers the agility of cloud computing by supporting the dynamic creation of virtual networks which are decoupled and are completely independent of the physical network hardware. Just as server virtualization decouples virtual machines (VMs) from the x86 server hardware, network virtualization also decouples software-based virtual networks from the network hardware and enables the creation of an operational model for networking. Network virtualization, which can be deployed non-disruptively over any existing network, can easily transform the physical network which can then be used based on specific needs.

Hatem Naguib, vice president, Cloud Networking and Security, VMware, said, "iland is at the forefront of our customers' transformation to software-defined datacenters. iland demonstrates that clouds built to leverage the operational model of virtualization across all datacenter assets -- compute, storage and network -- can deliver agility and operational efficiency not previously possible."

The VMware vCloud Suite is a part of the VMware network virtualization solutions portfolio and has been designed with the company's virtualization, cloud infrastructure and management portfolio all rolled into one SKU and the Nicira Network Virtualization Platform (NVP).
