Synopsys' Discovery VIP Solution Selected by Elliptic

Synopsys (News - Alert), Inc. (SNPS), a company that provides software, IP and services used to accelerate innovation in chips and electronic systems, recently announced that its Discovery Verification IP (VIP) has been selected by Elliptic Technologies, a company providing embedded security solutions for mobile, networking, smart grid and automotive markets, for verification of its new-generation Multi-Packet Manager security protocol accelerator (CLP-630).

Discovery Verification IP (VIP) is a next-generation VIP written entirely in SystemVerilog and based on the proven VIPER Architecture. The Protocol Analyzer, available with the Discovery VIP family, is simulator-independent, enabling users to quickly debug protocols with any verification environment and easily share protocol-based simulation results across teams.

Discovery VIP is implemented entirely in SystemVerilog and architected for native support for UVM, VMM and OVM without the need for methodology-level interoperability wrappers or language translations.

"The embedded security market demands delivery of error-free, rigorously verified security accelerators and processors," said Patrick Offers, vice president of engineering at Elliptic. "After evaluating several verification IP solutions for the verification of our AMBA interfaces, we determined that Synopsys' Discovery VIP was the best solution, allowing us to achieve our verification requirements while offering excellent ease-of-use and outstanding support."

Discovery Verification IP provides full visibility into classes, callbacks and messages and enables true SystemVerilog-based constraints. This streamlining of the VIP structure yields much greater performance and methodology support, and provides support across all simulators without degrading performance or methodology.

Discovery VIP includes productivity features to accelerate complex tasks like configuration and debug. It also provides features that address the need for protocol expertise, and accelerates time to coverage-closure including built-in test-plans, coverage and sequences.

"Synopsys' Discovery VIP for the ARM (News - Alert) AMBA protocol continues to accelerate the verification of high-performance, leading-edge system-on-chips (SoCs)," said Debashis Chowdhury, vice president of R&D for the Synopsys Verification Group. "Discovery VIP's advanced protocol and verification features help meet verification challenges of AMBA-based products like Elliptic's Multi-Packet Manager security accelerator SoC."
