Riverbed Identified as Market Leader by Gartner

Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology, an IT performance company, was recently identified as the WAN optimization controller (WOC) Advanced Platform (AP) worldwide market share leader by Gartner (News - Alert) for Q3 2012.

Gartner recognized the company as the market leader on the basis of its revenue; Riverbed captured 52.5 percent of the worldwide AP WAN optimization market, based on vendor revenue in Q3 2012.

"Global organizations are embarking on the development of new data center architectures, including virtual, cloud, software-defined and hybrid, to achieve their 'do more with less' goals, and are finding that WAN optimization is a critical component to ensure performance across the enterprise," said Eric Wolford, president and general manager of products at Riverbed.

In related news, Riverbed Technology has announced that d'Amico Societa di Navigazione SpA, a shipping organization that supplies dry and oil tankers, is using Riverbed’s wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions to support a data center consolidation initiative as part of its migration to a private cloud. The deployment of Steelhead appliances at the centralized data center and branch offices, and Steelhead Mobile software for remote and mobile users, allowed d'Amico Societa di Navigazione to improve collaboration across multiple teams and employee productivity.
