Drobo Extends Portfolio with Networked Drobo 5N

Drobo recently introduced a new offering in its latest portfolio of contemporary, high-performance storage systems, the Drobo 5N. Drobo’s offerings, which provide conventional user-friendly solutions with augmented performance and data protection improvements, has been expanded with the advanced, network-attached storage, or NAS device, the Drobo 5N. Personal and specialized users requiring a rapid, simplified, and extremely dependable file sharing and backup experience over the network will find these offerings ideal.

Similar to the just launched Drobo Mini and Drobo 5D, the latest Drobo 5N incorporates Drobo’s patented BeyondRAID and Data-Aware (News - Alert) Tiering technologies. The Drobo 5N is, therefore, able to offer capacity, performance, and data protection like the conventional, but very costly enterprise-grade storage.

In a statement, Robin Harris, chief analyst at StorageMojo.com, said, “Drobo is the future of storage. I’ve said it a number of times in public forums — the new Drobo products are automated, fast, affordable, and artfully meld both hard drive and SSD technology to deliver a great capacity/performance value proposition. Drobo has once again advanced the state-of-the-art in storage.”

Similar to all Drobos, the Drobo 5N uses BeyondRAID technology, thereby computerizing advanced data protection and capacity development operations. Users are guaranteed protection of data involuntarily. Drobo’s Data-Aware Tiering capability is also used by the Drobo 5N, hastening performance of the storage array with the smart utilization of high-performance flash or SSD technology. Applications like Adobe (News - Alert) Lightroom and Apple iPhoto or iTunes are now able to access data rapidly.

The latest Drobo 5N safeguards the information even in the case of an unexpected power failure or disruption. As this feature is completely computerized, users are now offered safety advantages that were previously only available for large organization clients, at an economical price.

The Drobo 5N networked storage can be installed on the network in a very simplified manner. Compatible with Mac and Windows systems, the Drobo 5N can now be used as a centralized backup for numerous systems on the network. The Drobo 5N can also share information for Windows and Mac OS systems across the network. Current customers are offered a simplified and strong upgrade to the Drobo FS network-attached storage solution with the latest Drobo 5N.
