Big Data Partnership Selected to Participate in Big Data Partner Incubation Program

U.K.-based big data specialists at Big Data Partnership have been selected as one of a few select organizations from around the world to participate in the Microsoft (News - Alert) Big Data Partner Incubation Program.

The agreement calls on both Big Data Partnership and Microsoft to work closely together to drive customer engagement and the introduction of Microsoft HDInsight, which is Microsoft’s distribution of Apache Hadoop for the Windows Azure and Windows Server platforms.

An enterprise-ready Hadoop service, based on the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), Microsoft's HDInsight enables customers to seamlessly store and process data of all types, including structured, unstructured and real-time data.

“Microsoft HDInsight will allow customers to run Hadoop on Windows Server and on Windows Azure,” said Bob Baker, director of server and tools marketing at Microsoft, adding that combined with the business intelligence capabilities of SQL Server 2012, HDInsight enables customers to obtain great insight from structured and unstructured data.

Big Data Partnership was selected to participate following a nomination process that company officials describe as “rigorous.” The process was supported by Microsoft SQL Server global marketing managers and industry leads.

To its clients, the company’s inclusion in the Microsoft Big Data Partner Program is expected to deliver many benefits. Company officials said that it will enabling them not only to understand the growing variety of the data, but also how to achieve the simplified deployment of solutions via HDInsight.

“Big Data Partnership is excited to work with Microsoft to help accelerate the adoption of its big data solution in Enterprise,” said Mike Merritt-Holmes, CEO at Big Data Partnership.

He believes that by combining the simplicity of a Windows Server with the power and reliability of the Hortonworks Data Platform, the company will be able to deliver compelling advanced analytics and ensure that a wider audience reaps the benefits big data promises using the familiar tools of Excel, including PowerPivot and Power View.

Big Data Partnership announced a strategic collaboration with Hortonworks last June.
