Autodesk Partners with INDYCAR

Autodesk (News - Alert) Inc., a company that powers cloud-based design and engineering software, recently revealed that it has signed a new partnership agreement with INDYCAR, the auto racing sanctioning body behind such famed events as the Indianapolis 500.

According to the terms of the agreement, IZOD IndyCar Series teams will be able to access the Autodesk Product Design Suite, Autodesk Simulation 360, Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite and Autodesk PLM 360. Moreover, Autodesk will also provide INDYCAR’s engineering and operations group with its Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software to design and engineer product innovations for chassis designs, parts and components.

“INDYCAR’s technological heritage dates to the use of the first rearview mirror on an automobile during the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911,” said Greg Gruning, executive vice president, Corporate Business Development INDYCAR, in a statement. “Our partnership with Autodesk is a 21st century technology collaboration that gives INDYCAR new opportunities to improve our sport both on and off the racetrack in the near and long term.”

Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software products offer a comprehensive, flexible set of software for 3D mechanical design, product simulation, tooling creation, engineer to order, and design communications. With this solution, users can produce an accurate 3D model that can help them design, visualize, and simulate their products before they are built. Digital Prototyping with Inventor helps companies design better products, reduce development costs, and get to market faster as well.

In related company news, Autodesk and Topcon Positioning Systems, Inc., a precision positioning solution provider, have joined together to sign a letter of intent under which both companies will collaborate to allow products within Autodesk's design and construction software portfolio for Building Information Modeling (BIM) to more efficiently interact with Topcon's on-site field positioning hardware. This collaborative effort was formed to allow building and civil infrastructure construction customers to form a tighter, more seamless workflow that will increase on-site worker productivity, enhance field safety, and improve quality control.
