LucidWorks Unveils SearchHub.org

Solr is an open source enterprise search platform from the Apache Lucene project. Its features consist of hit highlighting, powerful full-text search, dynamic clustering, faceted search, rich document (e.g., Word, PDF) handling, database integration and geospatial search.

Providing the search and navigation features of many of the world's largest Internet sites, Solr is highly scalable and offers distributed search and index replication.

Recently, LucidWorks, a provider of Search, Discovery and Analytics, introduced SearchHub.org, a new online resource committed to the development, education and enhancement of the Apache Lucene/Solr community.

Before this release, Apache Lucene/Solr developers had to post questions and look for answers on various websites to get comprehensive material on a particular topic.

Powered by Apache Lucene/Solr open source search, SearchHub.org will allow developers to simply connect, combine and produce the next generation of applications. Making it a perfect destination for everyone who wants to learn more about Apache Lucene/Solr, the site is equipped with various Lucene/Solr instructional materials and provides search results from various sources across Apache and non-Apache resources.

“Finding all of the relevant information about a given Lucene/Solr topic using the Apache website can take a fair amount of time. Further, it offers only the information that is available on the Apache site itself,” said Steve Rowe, LucidWorks product development, Apache Lucene/Solr Committer and Lucene PMC chair. “SearchHub provides access to a broader set of Lucene/Solr information (Apache website, Lucene/Solr committers, Lucene Revolution (News - Alert) and LucidWorks) and presents it in an organized and logical manner.”

Recently, the firm introduced LucidWorks Big Data, an integrated development stack that combines the power of multiple open source projects including Hadoop, Mahout, R and Lucene/Solr to provide search, machine learning, recommendation engines and analytics for structured and unstructured content in one complete solution, available in the cloud.

Now, technologists and business users can initially pilot big data projects.
