Hurricane Sandy: A Litmus Test for ComSci

The disastrous Hurricane Sandy has proven to be a live litmus test for many enterprises. These kinds of major events tell you how resilient your business is during an event that compromises its operations. Do you have effective disaster recovery plan?

The recent hurricane arrived at the Northeast part of the country and affected thousands of American companies, as well as millions of people, leaving homes and businesses without power for a week or more.

As businesses and communities started rebuilding and getting back to work, there has been much attention placed on emergency preparedness and disaster recovery for the future.

Understanding the need for a comprehensive disaster recovery plan, Com Sci worked on its DR plan and maintained operations to rebound from the damage.

Robert Svec, ComSci's president and CEO, said in a statement, “Having a disaster recovery plan for unforeseen circumstances is crucial to being able to recover and necessary to mitigate both the immediate and lasting effects of such debilitating events as Hurricane Sandy. ComSci has invested heavily in our technology to ensure our clients can maintain business continuity and quickly get back to normal following catastrophe. We are pleased to receive such praise from our clients as ComSci continues its relentless pursuit to help enable our clients to more clearly and optimally manage the use of technology to meet their strategic corporate objectives.”

When Hurricane Sandy struck, many of the company's clients were in the middle of their month-end IT financial and business management reporting production cycles. Due to ComSci's disaster recovery capabilities, the company ensured that these processes continued uninterrupted and remained on schedule.

The ComSci leadership team personally reached out to each of the company's clients to check that they were safe and able to maintain business continuity in the aftermath of the storm.
