Beta Version of Layer 7 Technologies' APIfy Now Available for Free

In an effort to let business users open up an application programming interface (API) to mobile application developers without direct IT support, Layer 7 Technologies recently announced the beta release of cloud-based API management service.

Considering the fact that several organizations are looking to leverage the growing app economy by making their data available to outside app developers in a fast, simple and secure way, Layer 7 Technologies made it possible for these organizations to launch an API program in a very short duration through the new APIfy cloud platform.

As a provider of API connectivity solutions for the enterprise, Layer 7 Technologies made it possible for non-IT professionals to open up APIs to outside mobile app developers through the new beta version of’s cloud-based API management service.

Available now at no cost during the beta preview period, the APIfy can support and assist developers through simplified access to API keys, OAuth tools and community support.

Developers can leverage the self-service tools to reduce the time required for the development, testing and management of apps and API performance.

A complete version expected to be available in early 2013, the APIfy can quickly build and launch an API program with cloud-based self-service access, rapid developer on boarding and customizable, role-based access.

This feature allows for the fine-grained control of APIs.

Compatible with the Layer 7 API Management Suite, the APIfy cloud platform takes elements of this API Management Suite and delivers it as a Web-configurable service from the cloud. It includes key API security, management and developer engagement services for the rapid publication of APIs to a developer community.

Apart from simplifying the publishing of APIs while protecting against common threats, the APIfy platform can gain operational insights into APIs with powerful analytics, KPIs and reporting functionality. This feature facilitates the monitoring of top apps, developers and API performance.

Dimitri Sirota, chief strategy officer at Layer 7, said in a statement, “APIs provide enterprises with a simple means to open internal data and applications to external developers. For many years, Layer 7 has established its API Management Suite as the choice for enterprises that don’t want to compromise on security, performance or flexibility.”

Sirota added, “APIfy distills the key elements of our suite into a simple and safe service perfect for API product managers, marketers and developer evangelists. And when the organizational API needs to evolve or scale, APIfy customers can quickly transition to the full featured Layer 7 API Management Suite.”
