Clear2there (News - Alert), a company specializing in smart home technologies, has expanded its smart-home and smart-business portfolio with the addition of a new device called Viewbiquity (News - Alert) Edge Gateway.
Service providers seeking to roll out home, smart-business and smart-farm services, are often discouraged by the high expenses associated with the acquiring and maintaining on-premise equipment needed for the purpose. The Viewbiquity Edge Gateway (News - Alert) has been designed to allow the service providers to cost-effectively deploy value-added services across their subscriber base.
A self-configuring device, based on thin-client architecture, Viewbiquity Edge Gateway helps eliminate the need for expensive and often complex application servers and gateways that are commonly used in many other connected-home and -business solutions.
“The device enables the service provider to maintain system software and remotely push upgrades to every gateway and device on the network without necessitating
a truck roll,” said president and chief executive officer at Clear2there, Craig Steen.
Clear2there’s smart-home and smart-business portfolio for service providers incorporates a number of turnkey customer premise bundles, Cloud- and Central Office-based application service platforms, and the award-winning Viewbiquity Cloud Application Suite.
The solution helps to create customizable service offerings that allow providers to offer Cloud- and Central Office-based smart-home and business services that increase revenue, enhance customer service and improve profitability.
The Edge Gateway makes an important value addition to Clear2there’s smart-home and smart-business portfolio. This highly-efficient and low-cost device serves as a secure control point for sensors and other smart-devices deployed on a premises.
It is pre-configured to automatically and securely connect to the application server in the cloud or at the Central Office, based on the service provider’s configuration choice.
The gateway simply plugs into the local area network (LAN) or broadband router, and the onboard intelligence takes over. All of the application software and intelligence is in the Cloud and Central Office, and devices can be accessed, configured, queried and managed using a simple Web-based dashboard.
Recently, Clear2there LLC reached an agreement with Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin-based Solarus to provide new smart-home and smart-business service offerings. As part of the agreement, Solarus will leverage Clear2there’s InfiniVi Video Storage Platform and the Clear2there Service Provider Solution as the foundation for home and business monitoring and control services. These include video surveillance, energy management, thermostat control, flood and leak detection, as well as support for a broad range of smart sensors and devices commonly used in residential, agricultural and business smart-premises deployments.
Solarus expects to launch the services later this year.
