Recently, VINCI PLC revealed that it has selected a Brocade (News - Alert) Ethernet fabric and campus network solution in order to extend network intelligence, scalability and resilience across its networks, and deliver a consistently high Quality of Experience (QoE) to staff, partners and contractors.
With the Brocade ICX 6450 Campus Network switches in place, the company expects to enable effortless networking that provides a high performance yet simple to manage and scale campus network.
These switches are designed for small to medium-sized enterprises, branch offices, and distributed campuses, and are fully featured. They are available in 24- and 48-port 10/100/1000 Mbps models and one Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) or 10 GbE dual-purpose uplink/stacking ports.
“We needed 10 Gigabit Ethernet performance as capacity was strained, but we weren't ready for a full refresh and wanted to deploy Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync campus-wide, with a plan to offer this as a hosted solution to other divisions and partners,” said Ben Paddick, technical design architect at VINCI PLC, adding that the Brocade solution served as a perfect fit for the company’s demands.
These robust switches combine the capabilities of a chassis with the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of a stackable switch. This approach helps ensure an optimal user experience for streaming video, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), UC and other mission-critical applications.
Additionally, VINCI PLC also selected Brocade ServerIron ADX Series switches to provide the high availability, security and scalability required to support Microsoft Lync in a virtualized environment.
“We wanted an end-to-end solution that enabled us to collaborate more effectively with partners, and supported BIM across projects so we can offer improved service to customers, project efficiency and risk management. The right network solution was key,” added Paddick.
Moreover, the VINCI also selected Brocade VDX 6730 data center switches with Virtual Cluster Switching (VCS) technology, to enable a high performance Ethernet fabric that provides the auto-healing resilience required to support its virtualized environment.
