ANADIGICS Launches Dual-Band Power Amplifiers

ANADIGICS Inc., a company that provides radio frequency (RF) solutions, recently added new dual-band power amplifiers to its ProEficient 3G / 4G power amplifier (PA) product family.

The new amplifiers are based on InGaP-Plus technology and patented design architectures to provide greater talk time in low-power mode.

The power amplifiers have ANADIGICS HELP3E technology with selectable power modes to deliver optimal efficiency for the full range of 3G/4G output power levels and improve battery life. The module includes inherent voltage regulation and a 20 dB RF coupler for each 3G/4G PA.

The modules are manufactured using an advanced InGaP HBT MMIC technology for state-of-the-art reliability, temperature stability and ruggedness. The 5 mm x 7.5 mm x 0.9 mm surface mount package incorporates matching networks optimized for output power, efficiency and linearity in a 50 Ω system.

"Modern 4G smartphones provide users with access to incredibly fast data speeds that rival many wired broadband connections," said Jerry Miller, vice president of Wireless Mobile Products at ANADIGICS. "However, the increasing use of 4G data is driving greater current consumption, decreasing battery-life in both smartphones and tablets.  By combining the industry's highest efficiency across all power levels with a highly integrated small footprint package, ANADIGICS' new dual-band ProEficient power amplifiers not only offer a smart path to greater battery-life, but also enable sleek designs."

Meanwhile, the company recently announced that it is shipping production volumes of its dual-band High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power power amplifiers (PAs) to Samsung (News - Alert) Electronics for the new Galaxy S III smartphone. The Galaxy S III features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED(TM) display, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, and Android(TM) 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

ANADIGICS' AWC6323 power amplifier enables the Galaxy S III available through Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless, and the Company's AWC6325 and ALT6725 power amplifiers are featured in the Galaxy S III available through Sprint.
