SanDisk and Virident Partner to Offer Better Server and Storage Performance

SanDisk (News - Alert) Corporation is working with Virident Systems Inc., a supplier of PCIe flash storage solutions, on projects that would combine Virident hardware technology with FlashSoft software from SanDisk. The collaboration aims to provide the companies’ customers with easy access to the superior performance provided by the combined hardware-software solution. 

Under the collaboration, SanDisk-Virident (News - Alert) will conduct co-marketing, sales cooperation, joint testing and validation programs, and support and services assistance.

FlashSoft and Virident FlashMAX PCIe cards, available in Linux, Windows Server and VMware vSphere environments, gives customers the ability to use this complementary solution to boost storage execution on a variety of platforms.

“SanDisk’s enterprise software business is keenly focused on improving hardware performance on SanDisk and non-SanDisk platforms alike,” said Greg Goelz, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Storage Solutions. “Working with Virident allows us to reach a greater number of customers with a broader set of solutions aimed at improving the performance of servers and storage devices.”

In performance test jointly conducted by SanDisk and Virident show that a Virident FlashMAX I PCIe card using FlashSoft software can boost the performance of certain Microsoft (News - Alert) SQL Server workloads by nearly 700 percent versus storage based on a hard disk drives.

“Virident FlashMAX is industry renowned for superior, sustained performance over time and across diverse workloads,” said Shridar Subramanian, vice president, product marketing at Virident. “Now the Virident FlashMAX storage solution is further complemented by FlashSoft software. We are looking forward to further expansion of our customer base with this partnership, as we continue to provide superior support and service for our joint customer base.”
