Analysts: China Set to Spend More Than $300 Billion on IT in 2012

There can be very little doubt that a ton of different companies have begun to understand just how important it is to invest in Information Technology. Companies in countries like the United States figured out long ago that IT spending is the only way a firm can make sure that it is ready for a large number of problems that can arise. That same spending can also keep a company ready to go when it can adapt and make up ground on a competitor. It appears that China has also recognized the benefits of increased spending. Industry analysts Gartner (News - Alert) is seeing some heavy growth when it comes to IT spending in the Asian nation.

Whether talking about increasing spending on devices such as the iPad or smartphones that can handle computing or actual services such as SaaS (News - Alert) and the cloud, China is looking to increase its devotion to technology and increase it by increasing spending. Gartner says that it expects China to reach $312 billion spent by the end of this year. That number would be a rate of more than 12.6 percent over 2010.

"Despite the worsening impact of the global economic downturn affecting both local and multinational companies in China in the first half of 2012, the Chinese government's 12th Five Year Plan that began in 2011 will continue to influence the IT initiatives of Chinese enterprises through 2015," said Jim Longwood, research vice president at Gartner. "The consumerization of IT will also continue to have a strong impact in China, which has the world's largest number of Internet users and mobile handsets, the largest PC market, and the second largest hardware market."

Gartner also believes that an awful lot of the spending this year will be on consumer devices that have been well hyped, meaning that the spending will only increase over the next few years as those devices continue high adoption rates.
