Cox to Expand Home Security Systems in Additional Markets, Appoints Vince Groff as General Manager

Cox (News - Alert) Communications, provider of communications services including high speed Internet, cable TV and phone, is now also offering Home Security. After piloting the new product in Arizona last year company is now planning to launch that in additional markets in 2012.

According to a statement, the reliable and 24/7 secure monitoring features included in the Cox Home Security include, Intrusion (News - Alert) and home safety monitoring (includes fire, gas and flood), remote access to control the system away from home via a secure online site or smartphone app, e-mail/text alerts to notify customers of occurrences at the home, safety sensors to detect hazardous conditions such as carbon monoxide and smoke, secure video monitoring available via smart phone or a web browser and Control of home functions such as lighting and temperature.

"Customers trust Cox each day to connect them to the things they care about. For most people, home and family are at the top of that list. Cox Home Security is a natural extension of the communications services we deliver," said Asheesh Saksena, executive vice president and chief strategy officer.

Cox is offering this product is to customers through a Cox bundle, which gives them a competitive advantage. With the addition of home security services, all of a customer's Cox services will appear on one bill. Cox Home Security is another example of how the company will continue to explore new ways to grow and offer products and services to customers how, when and where they want them.

To deploy the security systems into other markets, Cox has also appointed Vince Groff to the new role of general manager of this new business. Groff led the initial Cox Home Security development and trial execution and will now be responsible for the broader roll out and ongoing management of this new business.

"Cox Home Security is consistent with our desire to deliver solutions that meet the individual and unique needs of each customer," said Groff. "One home may require a video camera near their pool for safety reasons. Another family may want text message alerts sent when children arrive home from school. No two installations are exactly alike."
