Gartner's Leaders Quadrant for APM Includes Quest Software

The latest 2012 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring (APM) report includes Quest Software (News - Alert) in the Leaders quadrant. Gartner released the latest report, which assesses vendors offering complete APM offerings, on August 16, 2012.

There is a rising requirement for hybrid cloud computing, virtualization, mobile and Software-as-a-Service-based applications among businesses where tracking the health and performance of applications is extremely crucial. Enterprise IT teams can proactively recognize and analyze application design or performance problems in a simplified manner with Quest’s Foglight offering, avoiding any unfavorable impact of end users and the business.

Thousands of organizations are able to simplify APM (News - Alert) and remove performance-related problems that adversely affect the business with Foglight.

“Over the past 20 years, we’ve worked closely with our global customers to develop a robust application performance monitoring solution that can monitor everything from critical infrastructure to end user website performance,” said John Newsom, VP and GM, Performance Monitoring, Quest. “Our customers regularly tell us that our unique differentiators, particularly as they relate to our end user monitoring capabilities, make Foglight far more cost justifiable than any of the APM-only point solutions on the market, while at the same time providing opportunities for practical tool consolidations to further reduce complexity and costs.”

Fifteen vendors were assessed by Gartner (News - Alert) in its report, mainly for their competence to deliver and comprehensiveness of vision. All vendors had to fulfill all five APM dimensions, namely end-user experience tracking, user-defined transaction profiling, application component discovery, modeling and display, application component deep dive tracking in application context, and analytics.

A completely incorporated approach to the five dimensions of APM, as envisioned by Gartner, was taken by Quest.

One of the criteria for being included in the Gartner 2012 MQ was SaaS (News - Alert) support. Quest recently unveiled Foglight for Windows Azure Applications, a SaaS performance monitoring solution based on Windows Azure.
