Skyera Partners with Everspin to Improve Memory Reliability in Solid-State Storage Systems

Everspin MRAM is a memory that that makes use of the magnetism of electron spin to offer non-volatility without wear-out. To provide the speed of SRAM with the non-volatility of Flash in a single unlimited-endurance device, Everspin MRAM stores information in magnetic material integrated with silicon circuitry. To allow "instant-on" capability and power loss protection for an increasing number of electronic systems, Everspin MRAM devices also combine the best features of non-volatile memory and RAM (News - Alert).

Recently, the company offered MRAM technology to Skyera to supercharge memory applications on its newly announced solid-state storage system. To offer customers with ultimate reliability for their important data storage infrastructures, this is the industry’s first all solid-state storage appliance that makes use of MRAM.

To offer customers with improved data center fault recovery, reduced system downtime and lower total cost of ownership, using Everspin MRAM along with Skyera's MLC NAND Flash-based enterprise solid-state storage systems gets rid of the disadvantages of capacitor-backed RAM solutions.

“Skyera is the latest enterprise-storage leader to choose Everspin's MRAM technology to replace capacitor backed RAM," said Phill LoPresti, president and CEO of Everspin Technologies in a company statement.

Adding, "For a company like Skyera to incorporate our technology into its stack shows their commitment to overcoming reliability issues on the storage side and providing the best possible user experience.”

Recently, the company introduced magnetic RAM (MRAM) which provides a unique combination of high performance, endurance, non-volatility and reliability.

This product is a memory solution of choice for a new cognitive computing platform.
