Symantec Big Data Solution Unveils Add-On Solution for Symantec's Cluster File System

Big data analytics is the method of checking huge volumes of data of numerous types to understand hidden patterns, unidentified correlations and other important information. Such data can offer competitive benefits over rival companies and also provide business advantages, which includes more effective marketing and increased revenue.

Recently, Symantec (News - Alert) Corp. introduced an add-on solution for Symantec’s Cluster File System that allows customers to run Big Data analytics on their current infrastructure by making it highly available and manageable.

By assisting analyze data for business insights, Apache Hadoop offers users considerable value to drive revenue. But various existing data solutions lack the data management abilities and built-in resilience to tackle the expense and complexity of increasing storage and server sprawl.

The new Symantec Enterprise Solution for Hadoop offering offers a scalable, resilient data management solution to administer Big Data workloads to help make Apache Hadoop ready for enterprise deployment by working closely with Hortonworks, the company stated in a statement.

“Customers can’t afford to let the challenges of implementing Big Data translate into management challenges within the infrastructure they’ve worked so hard to build,” said Don Angspatt, vice president of product management, storage and availability management group, Symantec Corp. (News - Alert) “Our Enterprise Solution for Hadoop helps connect Hadoop’s business analytics to the existing storage environment while addressing key challenges of server sprawl and high availability for critical applications. It’s now entirely possible to get the Big Data solution you want from the infrastructure you’ve got.”

Recently, the company named Steve Bennett president and CEO of Symantec. He replaced Enrique Salem in the midst of concerns the security company was underperforming. Bennett, who is the company’s chairman of the board, will stay on in that position, too. Becoming chairman in 2011, Bennett was named to Symantec’s board of directors in February 2010. At Intuit (News - Alert), he was president and CEO between 2000 and 2007.
