Chrome to Crash Less While Running Flash

Do you remember the last time that you had something crash on you?

I bet it was frustrating to lose what you were doing while you were right in the middle of it without any warning. Some of you may have re-launched the app calmly, with your dignity in tact. Other may have resorted to more extreme response that includes using obscenities to refer to your machine.

What about when that crash takes place in your Web browser? You could end up losing that blog post you were working on, a reply to your boss’s urgent e-mail or all of the tabs you were using for research.

A Web browser crash can be very annoying for anyone, but when that crash is caused by a fairly common bit of Web technology that is used by a lot of popular sites on the Web, then the frequent crashes can become a source of serious frustration.

If you use Chrome on your Windows-based PC and enjoy visiting sites that are Flash heavy, then you know just what I'm talking about. The system has had a serious problem with crashing when faced with Flash heavy tasks on the Web in the recent past.

Recently, the folks over at the Chromium blog announced that they have a taken a big step to lessening the amount of times that the Google (News - Alert) Chrome browser for Windows crashes when faced with a Flash heavy task. The newest update is set to reduce the number of flash based browser crashes by about one-fifth. That will be good news for the users who get to swear at the system when the crashes happen. So if you were having problems, now would be a really good time to consider updating your machine.

Mac users are also expected to see an update, but for now, Google has not said when it will be out – so keep a wary eye.
