Nexenta - Growing Like Crazy and Enjoying the Attention

A key player in the OpenStorage solutions market, Nexenta Systems has recently been named an AlwaysOn Global 250 winner. This recognition is reserved for 250 private technology companies throughout the global market that focus on a combination of infrastructure and software innovations that lead to the creation of a global technology community that is interconnected.

“This year’s AlwaysOn Global 250 companies have been shaken up by the recent surge in on-demand and mobile innovation,” said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn, in a statement. “This year’s winners are driving the technology market into new, uncharted territory, representing the highest growth opportunities we’ve seen in the private company marketplace in the history of Global Silicon Valley.”

Nexenta develops solutions that simplify the process of storing Big Data. Its OpenStorage model ensure these storage solutions are both affordable and innovative, while packaging industry-standard hardware with its enterprise-class software.

This win comes on the heels of the company’s launch of the NexentaVSA for View. This solution – positioned as a breakthrough by the company – is expected to expand Nexenta’s proven ZDS-based storage software into environments focused on desktop virtualization.

“Nexenta is honored to be selected as an AlwaysOn Global 250 Winner,” added Evan Powell, CEO, Nexenta Systems. “The award win is a continuation of the tremendous momentum we have seen in the past few months, both with our technology and our company resources. With the $21 million Series C funding round in January and the debut of NexentaVSA for View, we’re challenging the legacy storage providers to step up their game.”

The AlwaysOn Global 250 winners are selected by the publication’s editorial team and industry experts from around the world. The five criteria considered in the election process include market potential, innovation, stakeholder value, commercialization and media buzz.

“A lot is going on at Nexenta,” said Bill Roth, VP of Marketing, Nexenta. “We’re growing like crazy and we just finished a really great quarter. We also recently announced the NexentaVSA for View and we believe this is the year of virtual desktop infrastructure. One of the limiting factors to that is storage in that it is so complicated to configure. We essentially created the easy button.”
