Trend Micro Smart Protection Network Incorporates Sophisticated Capabilities

Trend Micro (News - Alert) Inc. has unveiled an extended version of Trend Micro Smart Protection Network. Launched in 2008, the cloud-based security infrastructure is utilized by majority of the organization’s offerings and services. Sophisticated big data analytic capabilities are included in the recently expanded Smart Protection Network, thereby assisting Trend Micro in recognizing latest security threats across a further enhanced assortment of data sources and offering rapid threat intelligence across the world.

In a statement, Eva Chen, CEO of Trend Micro said, "Since the launch of the Smart Protection Network in 2008, the threat landscape has shifted to now focus on mobility and targeted attacks. Threats and cybercriminal attacks have taken on an unprecedented level of volume, variety, and velocity. These changes demand a smarter, accelerated approach to security so that our customers can confidently embrace the mobile device and cloud-era, knowing their data is protected, no matter where it resides."

The expanded Smart Protection Network comprises of additional technologies like mobile app reputation, vulnerability rules, network inspection rules and in-the-cloud whitelisting. The current reputation technologies of Smart Protection Network, namely Web reputation, e-mail reputation and file reputation will now be incorporated with these latest capabilities to further expand Trend Micro's wide-ranging global threat intelligence.

Our RSA FraudAction service which is designed to help give our customers early warning about a broad variety of cyber threats, leverages real-time global threat intelligence data about viruses, spyware, spam and other malware from the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network. Trend Micro's move to enhance and expand the Smart Protection Network will benefit our customers who rely on multiple sources of threat intelligence data to better understand and fight against multi-vector cyber threats."

The latest capabilities will offer instantaneous protection to Trend Micro customers against current threats. Trend Micro offers competent and user-friendly security offerings like Trend Micro Deep Security, Trend Micro Deep Discovery and Trend Micro Titanium.
