Netlist HyperCloud Clears Third Party Benchmark Test

HyperCloud HCDIMM memory modules from Netlist have been proven to help electronic design automation (EDA) professionals enjoy several benefits such as increased design productivity, reduction in time to market and lowered costs.

The benchmark testing for Netlist, a designer and manufacturer of high-performance memory subsystems, was conducted by Deopli, a well established thought leader in the EDA infrastructure and cloud computing space.

“The specific facets of EDA design flow that would benefit from a larger memory footprint and faster memory access speeds include select parts of block and top-level design, verification and implementation tools which are extremely expensive,” said Scott Clark, CEO of Deopli. “By utilizing HyperCloud, our benchmark test results revealed that HCDIMMs can significantly reduce costs and drive productivity in an EDA environment.”

HyperCloud is gaining popularity across the globe and it is being used in several industries including financial services, oil & gas and aerospace.

By leveraging a distributed buffer architecture, HyperCloud HCDIMM memory successfully reduces latency and utilizes rank multiplication to enable more DRAM capacity.

For this benchmark milestone, Deopli tested Netlist’s HyperCloud HCDIMMs as one of three possible memory solutions on servers utilized for semiconductor design.

The HCDIMMs showed a 54 percent memory bandwidth improvement and a 25 percent EDA simulation runtime improvement over LRDIMM, according to a release.

“Today’s memory performance in servers is not keeping pace with the evolution of processor technology, creating a high density memory cliff which HyperCloud technology addresses,” said Chuck Hong, CEO of Netlist. “Deopli’s benchmark results show that memory-hungry EDA tools run faster with HyperCloud. This creates opportunities to either use fewer software licenses or allow more workloads to run at the same time, allowing customers to deliver product to market faster and at lower cost.”

Netlist was in news in May this year when its Netlist's 16GB HyperCloud memory modules were qualified by HP and selected to become the basis for HP SmartMemory HyperCloud for use on HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) DL rack-mount server models.
