Password Management is Key, SplashData Reveals

Founded in 2002 and located in Los Gatos, Calif., SplashData is known for its robust password management solutions that solve the increasing problem of managing multiple different logins for a variety of websites.

Morgan Slain, chief executive officer at SplashData told TMCnet, “Everyone has a system but some are better than others and a lot of people end up using the same password over and over. What we are seeing is that hackers are targeting sites without robust security and corporations have a real responsibility to maintain data security as well as remain up-to-date with the overwhelming amount of federal regulations.

With a wide portfolio of products available on the market including both an application and a desktop software offering, the password management provider offers two distinct solutions which allow IT managers to set up a vital safe for either the whole organization or individual departments. This way, the data is controlled by IT who can then select to set up a server inside the corporate network or on SplashData’s server.

Slain stated, “Our company creates a safe for digital data with one master password that unlocks it all and our personal solution can be used on a Mac, PC or smartphone which synchronizes data across all platforms.”

Some of the benefits of the company’s solutions include: increased productivity, a much higher level of security which prevents people from writing stuff down on post its, as well as reducing the calls made to IT in regards to lost passwords.

In regards to some important advice SplashData strongly believes every company should follow, Slain added that every organization should focus on strong password policies that are robust and contain at least eight characters.

“A tip I would give firms out there is to utilize passphrases, where you string short words together that mean something to you to create a virtually unbreakable password,” Slain commented.

If your company hasn’t implemented a password management solution yet now is the time and industries including financial services such as banks and credit unions, universities, healthcare organizations including lots of hospitals and doctor offices, auto dealers, and law firms have jumped on this bandwagon and have enabled everyone in their business to have easy access to information while remaining secure.

In the next few months and even looking into next year, be sure to keep your eyes on SplashData as they will be continuing to unveil some new, extremely innovative products.
