CES-Creative Electronic Solutions Picks Green Hills Software's Integrity 11 Real-Time OS for Single-Board Computer

Green Hills Software, a provider of embedded software solutions, has announced that CES (News - Alert)-Creative Electronic Systems, a provider of aerospace systems, has picked its Integrity-11 real-time operating system.

The system will run on the 3U VPX single-board computer (SBC). It features a Freescale (News - Alert) QoRIQ P4080 processor and has PCI Express, serial RapidIO and 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectors.

“Creative Electronic Systems chose INTEGRITY-11 to tap the full potential of the RIOV board family,” Werner Pirkl, systems engineer at Creative Electronic Systems, said. “An SBC providing such flexible connectivity needs an operating system that allows the exploration of all possibilities without requiring extensive adaption effort. Using the Standard for Embedded Power Architecture Platform Requirements in combination with intense software partitioning enables our clients to quickly prototype and evaluate the interconnect of their choice. The conjunction of resource I/O protection, offloading engines and synchronous or asynchronous multiprocessing support helps to achieve maximum performance while keeping hard real-time constraints and guaranteeing separation at the hardware and software level."

“CES has been hosting Green Hills Software's INTEGRITY operating system on its boards for over nine years," Christopher Smith, vice president of marketing Green Hills Software, said. “The long-term relationship between CES and Green Hills has resulted in a proven track record of integration within some of the most advanced aerospace and defense solutions throughout Europe and the US.”

Earlier this year, EEMBC (News - Alert) Coremark certified Green Hills Software's Multi MULTI 6.0 - Compiler 2012 with a score of 2.94 on the Freescale Kinetis K60 90nm microcontroller, the highest performance of all the competing compilers.

“Delivering performance to our customers has always been one of our key pillars of strength. For over 30 years, our compiler R&D teams have led the industry by inventing and expanding compiler optimizations across all embedded processor architectures including Power Architecture, ARM (News - Alert), MIPS, V850, IntelArchitecture and many more,” David Kleidermacher, chief technology officer for Green Hills, said.
