TransLattice Unveils TED Geographically Distributed RDBMS

TransLattice announced the release of the TransLattice Elastic Database (TED), a geographically distributed Relational Database Management System.

A distributed database and application platform company, TransLattice provides data for enterprise, cloud and hybrid environments when required. The distributed approach reduces deployment complexity, and cost-effectively improves system reliability, scalability and response times.

“Global organizations can’t afford downtime, period,” Frank Huerta, CEO and founder of TransLattice, said in a release. “We have designed the TransLattice Elastic Database to provide reliable, high-performance and low-cost distributed computing to global enterprises. With TED, organizations can provide fast, cost-effective data availability to users anywhere in the world, doing away with the need to federate data, while still complying with data location regulations.”

In cases where power outages or other events cause damage to an organization’s IT operations set up, it is the backup data centers that offer some form of security for organizations. Even then failover may not be effective and also work and recovery takes longer than planned for.

The immediate solution lies in the geographical distribution of data, including relational data. This optimizes system availability, performance for remote users, scalability and data location compliance for enterprises and the cloud. The geographical distribution of data allows work to continue even if some nodes are down, curtailing outage related problems and expenses.

TransLattice Elastic Database distributes data to various locations of the organization, resulting in a fault-tolerant data fabric made up of multiple nodes. TED allows a single database to run on multiple TransLattice nodes ensuring high availability, enhanced performance for remote users and scalability. It also follows all compliance policies.

TED database fabric with multiple nodes can be administered from anywhere on the network with zero downtime by distributing data across geographic locations. It places mission-critical data closer to the edge of the network thereby reducing response time for customers, partners and employees, said officials.

The system also permits the addition of nodes where required with no downtime. Nodes are essentially virtual machines, cloud instances, TransLattice appliances or a combination of these. TED enables optimum control of data location via simple-to-configure policies. This brings down need for data federation and optimizes systems management.

According to officials the TED deployment is less expensive compared to distributed SQL databases. Its geographic distribution capabilities enable the best use of hardware assets and to keep all nodes active.

TransLattice recently announced the availability of its TransLattice Automation Kit (TAK). By enabling system administration professionals to easily script routine management functions, TAK provides a simple, efficient way to manage large clusters of TransLattice nodes.
