Caringo Provides Tips to Select Object Storage Provider

Recently, Object Storage provider Caringo announced a few tips to consider before investing in an object storage platform.

An Object-based Storage Device is a computer storage device, which is identical to disk storage but it functions at a higher level. An OSD organizes data into flexible-sized data containers, called objects, instead of offering a block-oriented interface that reads and writes fixed sized blocks of data.

First, the company advices the investors to look for a solution with symmetric architecture where all nodes do the same thing and there are no "specialty nodes." Secondly, single therapy investors should make sure that the object storage solution can efficiently safeguard the information based on the business value of the content irrespective of file size, file count or capacity.

Also, investors need to ensure that the solution users selected makes use of the standards like HTTP and stores metadata with the content. The solution should also let the users to plug-in additional servers to expand without downtime, without manual storage balancing and without the need to change current hardware in any way.

Lastly, the investors should ensure that the important infrastructure software is offered by a single company. This makes sure about the operability and optimization throughout the entire stack and ultimately provides reduced complexity, reduced expenses and improved quality of storage service, the company stated in a press release.

Recently, the company introduced three new products as part of its plan to provide a complete cloud storage software solution. The provider has announced the Elastic Content Protection, CloudScaler and Indexer products, combined with its Object Storage Platform powered by CAStor. The new products allow Caringo to provide a stack of software appliances that work together to offer flexible cloud storage.
