Gestalt Assisting Companies in Remaining Safe from Cyber Attacks

With locations in both Santa Clara, Calif. and an offshore center located in India, Gestalt has been around for almost four years and powers a Software-as-a-Service offering that is targeted specifically at SMBs. Its goal is to eliminate the potential for an array of cyber attacks with a robust tool set in place that can securely monitor a company’s network.

Touted as a turnkey solution that manages every aspect of security, it is vital that all businesses leverage Gestalt’s solution to deal with both cyber attacks and increased regulations. Already utilizing the company’s offering right now and seeing great results are healthcare organizations, retail, ecommerce, federal and financial organizations.

Anupam Sahai (News - Alert), president of Gestalt said, “The current solutions on the market are inadequate as by the day attackers are becoming much more organized. The challenge with today’s attacks is that are more sophisticated with a larger amount of tools that use a combination of vulnerabilities and are very hard to detect. So, we are working to build a next-generation solution that does away with the signature approach. The context aware-based approach instead looks at anomalies in traffic rather than predefined patterns and tries to understand it from seven different contexts.”

As many solutions that are available on the market are very expensive making it virtually impossible for SMBs with tight budgets to deploy them, Sahai advises that all companies should continuously change their default passwords and always keep security firewalls up-to-date. He also added that his organization brings together many different pieces of a network security solution and unifies all of the key elements to better protect the network. This provides the major benefit of automation, in addition to making it cost-effective since it is 10-20 times cheaper than other solutions.

“Right now, the industry is going through a lot of flux with the current buzz being that cyber attackers are winning. This isn’t all bad though as it is bringing a lot of awareness and a feeling that we need to do something to every business in operation. People no longer need to be convinced that they need a security monitoring solution, thus it is driving the adoption dramatically.”
