Clustrix Unveils v4.0 of its SQL DBaaS for Big Data Applications

Clustrix (News - Alert) has announced the launch of high-performance SQL database solutions that optimize cloud deployments while serving the needs of customers building applications based on big data, cloud and agile development.

“By offering our high-performance scale-out SQL database both as a service and as a private cloud appliance, Clustrix is bringing radical simplicity to the Big Data database market wherever customers want to run their applications,” said Robin Purohit, president and CEO at Clustrix.

The version 4.0 of Clustrix SQL DBaaS offers a high-performance SQL database-as-a-service (DBaaS) leveraging Clustrix’s scalability, performance and availability to the cloud. The Clustrix DBaaS also uses simple, transparent pricing and eliminates the use of meters or limits on transactions, data size or number of users.

Although public cloud platforms offer compelling development environments, the increase in complexity and costs as applications build up during production makes it unviable. In these cases, Clustrix DBaaS offers an optimally priced solution with a 1TB fault-tolerant configuration.

The service ensures real-time access for applications with high-transaction throughput in case of both      simple and complex queries, while enabling real-time recovery from failures. It provides fault tolerance features with high availability and zero operator intervention. It uses familiar SQL or key-value programming models and gives insight into DB performance optimization.

According to officials, the Clustrix high-performance SQL DBaaS offers the first-ever scale-out SQL DBaaS using Flash Storage (SSD) with terabytes of capacity with blazing-fast read and write performance. It delivers a self-healing SQL DBaaS featuring a true distributed architecture.

“We overcome limitations of legacy database architectures and new in-memory databases that create pricing and TCO surprises as applications scale. In this way, Clustrix enables application developers to innovate using the power of SQL and exploit the new cloud economics, both in development and production,” Purohit added.

Sergei Tsarev, CTO at Clustrix, said the Clustrix Version 4.0 is both application- and system-aware. It allows developers and system administrators to view application and database interactions, and study system health and performance. This reduces time spent on troubleshooting the database and lets application optimization and increases productivity.

Clustrix joined the partner program of Rackspace Hosting, which specializes in cloud computing. Rackspace (News - Alert) will host the Clustrix high-performance SQL database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offering.
