GPX Global Systems Secures Tier 4 Certification

The new carrier-neutral GPX IDC (News - Alert), a state-of-the-art 4,000m2 located in the Green, LEED-certified, Boomerang Building in the prestigious East Andheri section of Mumbai, became the first company in South Asia to secure Tier 4 certification.

The Uptime Institute recognized GPX as TIER 4 designed, constructed and operationally certified. The institute is currently providing Tier 4 Certifications in more than 25 countries.

“We're honored to be the first 'Uptime Certified' TIER 4 data center facility in South Asia,” said Nick Tanzi, CEO at GPX.

Tier 4 certification, a standardized technology used to define reliability and availability in a data center, was developed to address the need for a common benchmarking standard that would allow various facilities in these centers to be compared.

With practically no downtime and dual power sources for all equipment, the servers in Tier 4 data centers are always backed up to deliver data when needed.

Tier 4 is designed to host mission critical servers and computer systems and is secured at multiple levels. This prevents unauthorized physical or electronic access to the servers.

The Uptime Institute's Tier classification system is often confused with TIA-942, a standard developed by the Telecommunications Industry Association (News - Alert), which helps define guidelines for planning and building data centers. But, this standard is not endorsed by Uptime Institute.

Many other providers claim to operate TIER 4 data centers, but in actuality these are a far cry from the one endorsed by the Uptime Institute.

The Uptime Institute, Inc. is a consortium of companies that help companies maximize efficiency and uptime in data centers, and offers various services to its members. Performance standards developed by the Institute are in tune with the needs and preferences of users.

Connectria (News - Alert) Hosting, a global managed hosting provider, announced that it secured a new location in a Tier 4 CyrusOne data center in Lewisville, Texas.
