AFIP Selects BroadSoft's BroadWorks Voice Application Platform

Deploying an Internet protocol or ‘IP’ communications network offers a number of advantages to telecom operators over legacy telecom networks. It enables them to provide enhanced on-demand services to their customers.

BroadSoft (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of software and services for allowing mobile, fixed-line and cable service providers to offer unified communications or ‘UC’ solutions over their IP network, has announced that its BroadWorks voice application platform has been selected for deployment by the Administracion Federal de Ingresos Publicos or ‘AFIP,’ the national tax agency of Argentina.

The company offers a core communications platform that allows enterprises to provide their customers with various enterprise and consumer calling, messaging and collaboration communication services. Some of these offerings are private brand exchanges, video calling, text messaging and converged mobile and fixed-line services as well.

After the new announcement, AFIP will be able to utilize Broadsoft’s solution to deploy an IP communications network connecting around 18,000 end users across 500 locations. BroadWorks voice application platform has been developed for AFIP jointly by BroadSoft and Trans Industrias Electronicas S.A. or ‘Trans,’ a provider of advanced voice, data and image communication systems for corporate, government and service provider organizations.

“To fully benefit from the productivity and cost savings of transitioning to an all-IP network, AFIP required a platform flexible enough to connect users in multiple locations and to integrate legacy premises-based equipment and IP-PBXs from other vendors,” commented Horacio Franco, IT director at AFIP. “By leveraging the BroadWorks voice application platform, we believe we will be able to successfully deploy the first centralized IP voice solution within the public sector that can scale to meet current and future agency needs.”

AFIP has its presence across Argentina at a large number of locations and caters to a huge number of users. The agency now aims at generating a network based on the BroadWorks platform, which will allow it to monitor 500 connection points from a single location.

“We applaud AFIP for its innovative approach to leveraging hosted voice and communications services,” said Leslie Ferry, vice president marketing at BroadSoft. “This solution can deliver operational efficiencies as well as a wide range of innovative Unified Communications (News - Alert) capabilities to end-users.”

In April 2012, BroadSoft, Inc. announced Telekom Slovenia Group, a telecommunications operator from Slovenia, chose its BroadWorks platform to power its IP Centrex offering, which targets the Slovenian enterprise and government market. The operator selected the BroadWorks platform as it sought to expand its comprehensive portfolio of fixed, mobile, Internet and state-of-the-art integrated telecommunication solutions to include in-demand enterprise services such as video, call center and messaging.
