Medio Systems Appoints Andy Palmer as Corporate Advisor

Medio Systems, a global provider of predictive analytics solutions, announced that Vertica Systems’ (News - Alert) co-founder and big data entrepreneur, Andy Palmer, will hereafter act as its corporate advisor. Palmer will help Medio realize a strategy for domestic and global business development.

With a track record of over seven successful startups and with more than two decades of experience, Andy Palmer is seen as a specialist in accelerating the foundation and growth of early stage companies. His blend of strategic perspective and disciplined tactical execution is reportedly ideal for environments where uncertainty is the rule rather than the exception.

Medio explained that Palmer’s deep understanding of the big data analytics market, combined with his superior operational capabilities, will bring additional depth, experience and insight to Medio. The company wanted proven leadership and firepower to help drive it in an extremely dynamic market. Palmer aptly fits the bill.

“Computing is undergoing a major shift to big data, cloud infrastructure and a mobile-first development mentality,” said Andy Palmer, Medio’s new corporate advisor. “Medio is clearly ahead of the curve in terms of harnessing those powerful changes. But it’s the application of big data that is most exciting to me. Plus, as a Big Data application company, Medio offers unmatched benefits in terms of time-to-market, cost, and business impact.”

Palmer also has a particular interest in projects at the intersection of computer science and the life sciences, and a passion for cancer drug discovery and development. His specialties reportedly include software, sales and marketing, Web services, service oriented architecture, database, data warehouse, analytics and more.

Palmer was the co-founder and founding CEO of Vertica Systems. Prior to that, he worked as the senior vice president of operations and CIO for Infinity Pharmaceuticals, and has held executive positions at Bowstreet, pcOrder.com and Trilogy.
