Gleanster Study Suggests Enterprises to Focus on Agile Data Management

The high bandwidths and rapidly growing adoption of all sorts of connected devices have been playing a major role in the increase of overall data volume. In order to process and analyze this data to arrive at better business decisions, enterprises need to adopt smarter data management skills and solutions.

Gleanster, a best practices market research and advisory services firm, has announced the results of its latest report titled, ‘How Agile (News - Alert) Data Management Enables Faster, Smarter Business Decisions,’ which concentrates on agile data management. Apart from promoting best practices in technology-enabled business initiatives, the research firm also offers useful insights that allows companies to make smart business decisions.

Within its latest study, Gleanster suggests that in order to keep pace with the rapidly increasing number of data sources integrated into decision support systems; enterprises need to make smart decisions about tracking and measuring the success of data management initiatives. The report, ‘How Agile Data Management Enables Faster, Smarter Business Decisions’, can be downloaded here.

Business users and analytics must be equipped with the most relevant data, and must be able to rapidly access and implement t information to streamline their activities. Additionally, agile data warehouses must be able to flexibly integrate the data to ensure quick delivery of relevant business decisions, emphasizes the report.

“The ability to sense and respond to emerging trends, competitive activity, brand devaluation threats and other potential pitfalls in a timely fashion, turning on a dime when necessary, can spell life of death for major corporations,” commented Jeff Zabin, research director at Gleanster. “Agile initiatives emphasize continuous efforts to refine and evolve data requirements on an ongoing basis. It is this new give-and-take mindset that presents novel challenges and opportunities for organizations willing to adopt a more mature approach to data management.”

Further, the new study by Gleanster suggests that while a lot of discussion has been made upon agile business intelligence within the industry, still most often it has only emphasized how the interface for business users can be enhanced to self service their data needs. Enterprises also need to bank on the structural integrity and flexibility of data assets, and the procedures that can rapidly adjust the parameters of business and IT data to quickly develop reports and make fast business decisions. For effective implementation, enterprises must focus on both agile business intelligence and agile data management as both of them are mutually correlated, adds the report.
