Acacia's Subsidiary Acquires Patents for Computer-Aided Design Tools

Acacia Research (News - Alert) Corporation, a company that partners with inventors and patent owners and license the patents to corporate users for shared revenue, recently announced its subsidiary has acquired patents relating to computer aided design tools.

"As Acacia's licensing success grows, an increasing number of technology companies are selecting us as their partner for the licensing of their patented technologies," said Paul Ryan, Acacia’s CEO and president. "Acacia is rapidly becoming the leader in technology licensing and we continue to grow our base of future revenues by adding new patent portfolios."

Acacia’s partners are primarily individual inventors and small companies with limited resources to deal with unauthorized users but include some large companies wanting to generate revenue from their patented technologies. In a typical arrangement, Acacia becomes the owner or exclusive licensee of the patents, and the partner receives a percentage of its net recoveries from licensing and enforcement and/or up-front payment.

Acacia advances all out-of-pocket costs.

Acacia’s team includes market analysts, in-house patent attorneys, licensing executives and engineers. The company has an established track record of success, with hundreds of license and settlement agreements covering a wide range of technology areas. Acacia Research Corporation's (News - Alert) subsidiaries control over 200 patent portfolios, covering technologies used in a wide variety of industries.

In related news, Acacia Research Corporation recently announced that its Computer Software Protection LLC subsidiary has entered into a license and settlement agreement with MathWorks, Inc. The agreement resolves litigation that was pending in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. The technology generally relates to product key activation software.
