The social enterprise market is growing at a fast pace and even the big players like IBM, Microsoft, SAP (News
- Alert) and Oracle are scrambling for a share in the social market. Under this backdrop, emerging companies vie for industry recognitions that can significantly help them stay ahead of the competitors. Spigit, a promising player in the emerging social enterprise market, has done just that by securing places in two of the major industry lists.
This Pleasanton, California-based social innovation software provider reportedly earned industry recognition for its contributions to social enterprise technology.
In addition of grabbing a place in Aragon Research’s Hot Vendor list, which has been designed to identify a list of high impact technology providers, Spigit also made it to the JMP Securities (News - Alert) "Hot 100" best privately held software companies list. The JMP list strives to identify best privately held software companies based on such criteria as the company’s financial growth, quality of products and services, quality of leadership, customer service and market potential.
Aragon Research recognized Spigit for its enterprise-grade innovation solution in the Idea Management category, while JMP Securities’ included the company in its “Hot 100” list for the second consecutive year, a press release revealed.
“Spigit is both a Social Network and an Idea Management engine, all in one offering. What makes Spigit hot is the unique combination of crowdsourcing and game mechanics that enables their SpigitEngage platform to help enterprises deliver on the promise of finding the next big idea,” Aragon explained in its report.
Just five year in the business, Spigit has reportedly achieved a number of milestones. Followed by the launch of ICON, a free crowd sourcing platform that gives employees and organizations a quick way to tap their co-workers or external networks for ideas, knowledge and feedback, the company reported dramatic expansion in its client base.
The company reportedly added 100 new brand name clients in 2011, and over 500
customers on ICON. According to its maker, ICON is currently used by over six million customers' employees, including the world's leading brands in various segments. The company also reported 133 percent bookings growth year-over-year.
“The social enterprise is no longer a trend, but the future of work and we are pleased to be recognized as one of the companies pioneering this market. Spigit not only provides the framework for collaboration and employee engagement, but the tools for idea generation and innovation. Companies recognize the need for context and relevancy in social tools as they seek to compete better, enter new markets and evolve their product offerings. Social innovation through Spigit helps our customers achieve this transformation,” CEO and Founder of Spigit Paul Pluschkell explained in a statement.
Earlier this month, Spigit announced the appointment of Shail Khiyara, a marketing executive with hands-on experience leading many of Silicon Valley's most respected technology brands.
