International Rectifier is one of the top companies in the world when it comes to power management technology. Now the company is going to be improving its offerings thanks to a new Field of Use agreement with Power-One (News
- Alert), Inc. This non-exclusive global agreement will allow both companies to use the kind of Digital PowerTechnology that will help the two companies become even stronger in their respective fields.
Both Power-One and International Rectifier will be able to use the Digital Power Technology which will allow for increased system efficiency and improved design flexibility. This new technology will allow for faster time to market and, best of all for these two companies, is that the tech will allow for decreased costs across the board.
This particular technology also allows for a better telemetry capability that gives the users better information on just how well that technology and the devices it is monitoring is doing. With the new DPT hookups, customers will be able to monitor things like power consumption and thermal performance. This allows skilled engineers to better understand where they have a problem and will be able to predict where a problem with their equipment might arise before it actually hits.
Edward Carter, VP and GM, Industrial and Transportation Business Unit for Power-One explainedwhy his company had agreed to this sort of partnership with International Rectifier.
"Power-One is pleased to license its Digital Power Technology to International Rectifier, a market leader in the power-management IC industry, for incorporation into its products," he said. "With the expanding number of leading power supply and semiconductor companies partnering with Power-One, we continue to expand the market by providing energy-efficient technologies with increased functionality for our customers."
