Pano for Cloud Extension Now Offers Single Management Interface for Chrome Browser

Pano Logic (News - Alert) has launched a single management console to deploy, control and secure both endpoints and cloud desktops. The company specializes in Zero Client Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDI), and allows users to access resources through the Chrome browser, effectively eliminating the need to have a local operating system running and a CPU to support it.

Pano for Cloud, an extension of the core Pano System for VDI core technology, interoperates with the three major hypervisors: vSphere, XenServer and Hyper-V. Their management systems (VMware View, XenDesktop and Microsoft (News - Alert) SCVMM), simplify IT management by eliminating the need for more staff and cutting down on IT budgets since no software management or installation is required.

The system will also provide enhanced security as the risk of malicious code or unauthorized applications that target endpoints is eliminated.

The platform’s endpoint device, the Pano Zero Client, is a solid-state device with no processor, storage, memory or operating system. It consumes 97 percent less power than an average PC, and 50 percent less power than other so-called zero clients. No data is stored locally on the device.

Pano Logic’s VDI approach thus extends cloud environments for desktops to include data and Web applications, with the endpoint device merely acting as a tool.

Pano Logic’s approach provides a true cloud computing platform that disrupts enterprise computing economics, according to John Kish, president and CEO at Pano Logic. Organizations embracing cloud-based productivity applications and those that don’t require a full Windows environment simply use the Chrome browser interface while the IT manager sees a simple management console.
