Lantronix Introduces PremierWave XC, Linux Based Cellular Device & Application Server for Remote Management

Ethernet and Wi-Fi infrastructures have become a norm for advanced enterprises in today’s age, yet there are a large number of small companies that still lack these features and have to rely upon GSM/GPRS connectivity for their day to day operations. Advanced products are being developed to address the needs of these companies as well, so that they don’t lag far behind in this competitive era due to these shortcomings.

Lantronix (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of enhanced M2M connectivity solutions, has introduced its hybrid GSM/GPRS and Ethernet dual-port serial device server named PremierWave XC. With the help of the new server, virtually any serial device can be remotely managed and accessed through a GSM/GPRS or Ethernet network.

A Linux platform based application server solution, PremierWave XC is the newest addition to company’s PremierWave family, and can be purchased online from Lantronix.com, in addition to the distribution partners of Lantronix.

“We’re veterans in the M2M space, and have enjoyed great success leveraging Lantronix’ technology, especially their UDS and EDS product lines,” commented Sven- Åke Svensson, chief technology officer at MBG (News - Alert) Elektronik AB in Sweden. “The new PremierWave XC and its combination of ease of use, robust device server functionality, and GPRS connectivity, should prove to be another successful product for us and a great value/performance combination for our customers.”

Developed with an aim to suit a range of market sectors such as telemetry, utilities, industrial automation, healthcare and energy, PremierWave XC enables enterprises to leverage Lantronix device server application suite and optional custom programming environment to access and manage various serial equipment or device in a remote manner.

PremierWave XC is powered by the GSM/GPRS network and hence proves to be a great help in the areas which are not equipped with Ethernet or Wi-Fi infrastructure, or for those installations that feature Ethernet connectivity but use GSM/GPRS networks for connectivity.

“The launch of PremierWave XC is an exciting step for us. With this latest edition to our award-winning PremierWave family of products, Lantronix has now brought the same strong value added features, ease of implementation and integration that have made our existing device servers successful to new applications requiring cellular connectivity,” said Mak Manesh, vice president of product management for Lantronix. “With cellular network coverage in nearly every environment today, it is clear that the cellular device connectivity market boasts tremendous opportunity for Lantronix and our partners to enable the connectivity of the large percentage of M2M devices and equipment currently located in both mobile and remote locations.”

Recently this month, Lantronix announced the launch of its new patent-pending xPrintServer - Home Edition, designed specifically for home use by consumers wishing to print from their iPad, iPhone (News - Alert) or iPod Touch to a USB or network printer. Roughly the size of an iPhone, the new xPrintServer - Home Edition is premiering at today’s Digital Experience, a leading consumer electronics media event in New York.
