New OS Takes a Shot at Microsoft's Business Users

For a long time the average end user would have told you that Microsoft's Windows operating system was the only choice for computers. They were so dominate in the market that, as some of you may recall, anti-trust action was taken against them in several nations. Whether or not this was born out of market dominance or simply not being aware of other option will never be know but in the last ten years or so things have been changing. Linux flavors, with their array of iconic penguins, began to give people with high level skills access to open source options. After the popularity of the iPod line of devices exploded the world rediscovered the Mac OSX based machines, ready and willing to provide a full integrated experience for a slightly higher cost.

Where did that leave Microsoft's last stronghold? In the world of business. Few companies were willing to use Linux for front end systems and Mac's can be most prohibitive in the workplace, restricting them to mainly use in the creative fields where the software and high screen resolutions were worth the cost. Today, it looks like a new operating system is taking it chance to get a piece of the former Microsoft (News - Alert) empire and this competitor is aiming right for the heart, they are going for the business users.

Today the management of CrowdPC Inc., a startup company based in Nashville, has announced the release of their OS one that is designed with the needs of business in mind. The platform, which has been dubbed the CrowdPC platform, has been described by the company in the following terms in the release, "Using state of the art hardware and software technology, CrowdPC delivers PCI (News - Alert) and HIPAA compliant security, data safety, all commonly used small business software, real-time off-site backup, and easy connections to smartphones, tablets, and other customer and employee devices at a price of $299." If it lives up to its promises then this OS has the potential to take another chunk out of the Windows machine's territory.
